I got a very rude introduction to my kidney this week! It all started around Tuesday at our doctors appointment. After the ultrasound I told my doctor I had been having a really bad back pain (on my right side) on and off for weeks. I assumed it was round ligament pains and my ever growing uterus pains. He agreed and said my tests looked normal and if it persisted to call him back. I had been figuring all my back pain and peeing urges were pregnancy explained and went hope without a worry. Well as the night went on my back pain got worse. I was trying heat, cold, putting my legs up, everything! By about 11 I couldn't get off the couch and up the stairs to get to bed. Justin was getting worried and when I started crying he suggested we go into the ER. I really didn't want to but I had to admit it was getting worse by the minute. By the time we got to McKay Dee I was hyperventilating and vomiting from the pain. Justin went right up to the nurse and said I was pregnant and we couldn't wait for a room! My HERO! Then as I was telling them I was not far enough along they tried to take me to labor and delivery anyway! I was pretty upset by the time they brought me back downstairs and got me in my room. Stupid nurse! For the next 4 hours they took all kinds of samples and tried to get my pain under control. I had never had morphine in my life. I was screaming, is this safe for my baby and sobbing through the constant throwing up. They assured me it was completely safe. They had to give me morphine twice because I would throw up the percocet and anti nausea medicine strangely enough. They had me go home and sleep for a couple of hours and then come back for an ultrasound. They re-admitted me and told me it was obviously kidney stones and probably an infection and I had to just take pain meds, drink water and wait for them to pass. Then it made sense to me, my mom and sister had both had kidney problems in their pregnancy's too! Thanks genetics! I was in the worst pain of my life! I am coming out on the other side finally today. My doctor checked the baby Friday and said everything was OK. I guess the meds just make them sleep. But I was still nervous about the whole thing. I have to say Justin has been amazing! He never left my side and has got me absolutely everything I have needed. He was so cute when he told the doctor, "she scared me, I have never seen her like that, I was so nervous!" He held my hand the whole night! What an amazing man I have! Lets hope I have seen the end of this traumatic occurrence!
