Bookworm!

Yes that is me, in my Snuggie, on the couch, reading a book, one of my favorite places to be. I am an admitted Bookworm. I am a reading girl and proud of it. I have always had this unspoken love of the written word. I have always been able to escape my life and problems by jumping into an exciting story. I have always loved the smell of ink and paper, or the crack sound of the spine of a new book as it is opened. I love to walk through book stores or libraries for hours and just pull books off shelves until I find something new. I WAS the teased little girl on the bus with her nose in a book. But I hate to admit in high school and going into adulthood some of that passion faded. I started to think reading wasn't cool and barely pursued it with the zest I once had. Reading the occasional non-fiction or auto-biography I was bored. Then one day in my new found adulthood of working constantly, finishing college and "nursing" my new marriage I heard of this new book taking the country by storm, "Twilight". I was intrigued! When I had read fiction in the past few years it was Harry Potter, or the occasional Ann Rice adult vampire fare. I needed something new in my life. Boy did Twilight ever light a spark! I remember a love for reading fiction I forgot I had! I was enveloped in a world in a book once again! Not since childhood had I felt such a bond with a group of characters. My poor husband of course thought I was going a little crazy. Especially when we went to the REAL Forks, Washington! Or went to a huge book signing to meet Mrs. Meyer herself! The insanity got bad for a while there. =p But I came out of the other side of my Twilight addiction and a world of amazing books and authors was waiting for me. Yes, at first they all involved vampires like Jeri Smith-Ready and her radio station vamps or Charlaine Harris and her super sexy southern vampires. But eventually I branched out and found a whole world I was missing! Cassandra Clare and her Shadowhunters, Maggie Stiefvater and her lovable werewolves, Suzanne Collins and the amazing Hunger Games just to name a few. I am so in love with books it is silly! So this year this "crazy" ( I prefer overzealous) working mother is setting herself a little reading goal. I may not get there but I want to read 51 books this year. I have a list of some all time classics, some of the hottest YA and adult novels and some books that I have heard so much buzz about I can't resist them. My list is very well rounded and only a couple books even have a vampire in them. =p So I am going to chronicle my little journey and give updates on some of the books I am reading here on my humble blog. Maybe even give some suggestions. "But you don't have to take my word for it..."
