Who is the Dope?

First let me start by saying I try not too make too many political statements on my blog. I know it is a turn off, we all hear about it everywhere else, and honestly who gives a crap about my opinion. But I felt compelled to chime in today when I saw all the hoopla being made over this picture of Micheal Phelps "smoking weed". I am not a marijuana advocate, Let me say that again, I do not advocate the use of any illegal drug! My honest opinion is that smoking weed is a waste of time and makes you a total burnout. Not too mention all the junk food you eat when you get the "munchies"! That can't be healthy! The real issue here is the press making a big deal out of something that isn't really a big deal. We all remember when Kristen Stewart was caught smoking weed on her front porch with her boyfriend a few months backs. Yes, I am sure it was weed, no one buys a bong or a glass pipe to smoke tobacco, sorry to all you head shops out there, it's the truth. So we can be pretty assured that was wacky tabacky in her pipe. My point is why should I care? What a celebrity, or athlete does on their own time is not my business. If I have real moral implications about something they are caught doing then I don't support them anymore. If I cared about Kristen or Micheal smoking pot then I won't see their movies or watch their sporting events. But chastising them for something so stupid doesn't effect them, they really don't care if I like them. So why make such a huge deal? "They are role models for our kids!" That is the line that I always hear. Well I say hopefully you talk to your kids enough to educate them on the dangers of drugs, and having famous people as role models. No one else from the Twilight "family" had anything negative to say about Kristen's little smoke out, and Mr. Phelps, yeah right! He just won eight gold medals, I don't think his sponsors or his die hard fans really think a hit off a bong effected his performance. So I guess I need to pick my bone with the media! Every time they put this stuff on the t.v. and all over the Internet they are just glorifying the bad behavior and bringing to light stupid things these "role models" do. I think if we all didn't make such a big deal about it no one would care. I know I don't care if my favorite celeb blazes it up every once in a while, but a word of advice to Kristen, try not to do it before interviews. It really doesn't help you be any more articulate. Thanks for letting me get on my soap box.
