Fun With Henna

On the 4th Justin was working in the morning so Sam and I went down to West Point's celebration. We watched the pizza eating contest, saw the reptile display ( I petted a giant monitor lizard), and walked around and looked at the booths. Then we went to Clearfield's celebration with Cathy. When Justin got off work he too came by and we walked around and looked at all the booths and ate some really good vegetarian egg rolls. Then Sam and I got Henna tattoos. Henna, produces a red-orange dye molecule, Lawson. This molecule has an affinity for bonding with protein, and thus has been used to dye skin, hair, fingernails, leather, silk and wool. In the pictures the paste is still on, but it washes off after a few hours and is orange, over the next few days it darkens to a brown red. The designs last about 2 weeks and are totally non-toxic. I got a "J" on my hand and she got a bunch of cute hearts. It was fun. Then Justin went home and took a nap and I sat on the deck and read all afternoon. It was so nice to just relax. Then we all got together to BBQ for dinner. Afterword Justin and I went to the Clearfield fireworks. It was a fun day. The rest of the weekend I felt so lazy! I cleaned house and went grocery shopping but I mostly hung out at the library and sat around and read all weekend. Justin and I also rented a couple of movies and ate lots of ice cream. I had a very lazy weekend. =) And don't you just love the "I heart Tofu" shirt Sam picked up at Warped Tour for me. Thanks Sam!
